[Creative title here]

Yesterday I ran an easy two miles. It was not a junk run, because I did get my body moving, but I am still recovering from two speed work outs in a row. I know… what was I thinking?

I do my speeds as more of a continual increased pace for about half a mile and then an easy pace for the next half… then I do an up-hill part of my daily route at an increased pace and intensity. Two days in a row of that and… I’m sore. So yesterday was a recovery. I got home and Bella had such a sad face that I had to take her out… so I did another mile or so in the fields. I got home and got her fresh water and played a game of basketball with my brothers.

Tonight will be either an easy run or a long run depending on what J needs. He has not built up the miles yet, but it’s nice to run with someone for the extra push. J wanted to run to an old lady from church’s house this weekend so we could see her goats. She lives about 4 miles away from us, so that may be our long run… 4 miles there with a short break to see the animals… and 4 miles back.

My school/ work schedule is really nice because I get out of class in time to get home and run. I’ve run everyday this week except for Wednesday because I needed a rest day. So I’ll probably continue this way and run 5 days a week. I have reached my early summer goal of 20 miles a week, and by mid summer I want to have 30 miles.

Options

I am waiting for a report to run… and at the same time I am trying to open a file in the same program… and my computer does not like that. So time to post.

Today has been a lazy day. I am going to class after work and looking forward to it. I am interested in the class and I have an enthusiastic professor. Does any one know how soon I would need to take the LSAT before I apply to law school?

The university near my parents has a program that the law students can take a few extra credits and also obtain their MBA in a desired field. Mine would be finance. I just want to do my best. The program would take 4 years going part-time. I need to work, because I never have not worked since I started college and I honestly wouldn’t know what to do with my self if I didn’t work, but if I didn’t go to grad school or law school… I would be bored out of my mind. So… continuing education is the way to go.

Mid week update

Every Group has a mother hen. I am so glad things are going well at work. I feel welcomed and like I fit into the culture. I was afraid that it would feel like a straight jacket after the culture at my old company. I’ve found that the way we dress does not reflect the attitudes of the group members. We are open and do not feel like we have to do everything immediately. I think it helps because all the workers are salaried, and we do our work on time with out micromanaging when we are officially on the clock. The mother hen will be with the group for a while, and I am glad, because she is middle aged but still active and young at heart.

My legs are a bit sore because I did speed work for the second day in a row. So tonight is going to be a light day, and I’ll just take Bella for a walk. Bella is my family’s Great Pyranees. She is just under a year and a half old and still has her puppy energy and gait.

Classes have started for the summer session, and I am looking forward to my Business Law class. I really have an interest in contract law and anything that pertains to the logistics of a business venture or deal… I am thinking about law school, but I’ll see where the next year takes me. If I decide I want to try law school I’ll have to take the LSAT this summer or in the fall… We’ll see.

Congratulations A!!

I am so proud of my friend! A ran with the elites for the Cleveland Half Marathon this weekend and finished in 1:30!! He stuck with the Kenyans for the first mile in order to get a good start, but then pulled back and ran a 6 minute pace through out the entire thing!! I asked A if he finished because I didn’t see his results but he said that the elite results were not yet posted.

I was thinking about the ridiculously fast time so I did some speed work last night. I did half mile repeats for 2 miles with 100yd walks in between in total I ran 3 and a half miles and finished (including the walking) in 30 minutes. So I averaged at an 8:30 pace. Not bad. I was excited because I kept running after the sprint and even when I felt like I was going to hurl my legs remembered their natural pace and kept going. I am going to do a tempo run tonight and see how I feel. I don’t anticipate it hurting too badly, but I need new shoes. I feel like I’m getting shin splints and I’ve run in these for about 6 months. I don’t want to stop running, but I may try to run in the fields for a bit instead of on the concrete. It’s been so long since cross-country that I forget the proper stretches. I need to find a running buddy, but the person I would call is currently in Greece. Miss you M!

Going with the Flow

I had an unexpected weekend trip. My family ended up going to Canada for Saturday and Sunday. It was a good time. My cousin and I went for a short run. For me it was a recovery run, because Friday I did my long run. I am still working on increasing the mileage. I want to do more than a 10% increase per week, but my body is taking things slowly.

I did a lot of nothing on Friday. In the morning I met a friend for coffee and crosants and then we went to World Market. I found some beautiful note paper, and I was so excited to use it that I already wrote a letter to a friend. I then went and bought school supplies for summer classes and for my honors thesis. I then went to the library to look at magazines and do some research for said thesis, but I got nowhere. I called another friend and we went to Olive Garden for a late lunch. And then we went shopping and I spent money.

So because of this weekend I have a self imposed diet and budget. Lets see how long I last.

Down and back Up

I promised an update… so here it goes.

I got accepted to graduate school for an MS in Accounting with the Information Systems option with the condition that I get a “B” or higher in 2 classes I just completed. I got a “C+” in one of them… and then I cried. I’m okay now, because I know that I’ll be able to apply in a few months, and will be accepted not contingent upon anything, and I also will not have to report to the Chair of the Accounting Department. He roped me into the Accelerated MS program, but I wanted to work on my MSA part-time while I was working and gaining experience. I may actually work on my MBA with an IT specialization instead of a highly specialized MSA. I still have a few months to decide.

The trip to Florida has been canceled all together. I obtained approval from my new boss to take the Friday off and that night when I looked at the tickets… it would have been close to $500 for one weekend not including spending money. I couldn’t justify spending that much money on a weekend trip. My bank account is doing well, but not well enough to throw money out the window.

I have an outfit that I would really like to wear, but I’m going to wait until the end of this summer to purchase the key piece. PRL makes the beautiful belt that looks like a horse’s bit. I love the way it looks on the khaki pants in the advertisements. I don’t have the tools to put together the outfit and post a picture now, because I am at work, but I promise a picture in the future.

Another thing… Running: I am doing well, but it has been cool and rainy for a majority of the past two weeks. I ran a mid-pace two miles and my legs started to hurt. I stopped because I didn’t want to injure myself, but I know it was because I hadn’t run regularly since two weeks ago. Exam week, starting a new job and poor weather threw my body off. I’m feeling a lot better now that I’m recovering from a good run. Tonight I’ll try to get in 3-4 miles, and then I’ll learn how to drive a car with a manual transmission. I’m going to Europe next summer, and that is the only kind of car there… no time like the present to learn.

I am waiting for a query to finish running, but that’s all for today.

New Desk

I am at COD sitting in my personal cube with walls and also not in a major walkway with a computer that faces the back of my cube not the part where everyone sees. So I face the walkway and can see when someone wants to talk to me. It’s amazing. My first day was kind of crazy as all are, but each day that passes gets better. This Friday is my day off, so I’m just going to spend some leisure time… I promise a much longer post with all updates then. I love my job and I love the company. The best part I think is that I can start when I want as long as I get in my 9 hours. My lunch is coming soon, and I am going to go home and get a new thermos of coffee to keep me through the afternoon.

Coming soon:
- school news
- grades
- work info including job description and developments.
